Castlefield Recruitment are delighted to have been exclusively engaged by Empower Housing Association to support them with the recruitment of a newly created Assistant Management Accountant. This recruitment is part of a pro-active and positive review of their operations to ensure they have the right resources and skills to deliver the best possible services to tenants and meet regulatory and legal requirements.

Empower Housing Association (EHA) was founded in 2003, to provide specialist housing for adults with disabilities enabling them to live independently within their community. EHA work collaboratively with families, Local Authorities and other key stakeholders, to find the right home for their tenants. Currently, EHA provide housing to over 450 tenants.

Their colleagues are key to their success and growth, with an overall colleague satisfaction rate of 88%.

The Role: Empower Housing – Assistant Management Accountant  

  • As Assistant Management Accountant you will assist the Finance Manager with the accurate monitoring of data ensuring timely completion of tasks including month end closedown, preparation of management accounts, reconciliations, budgeting, review and reporting of service charges
  • To work with colleagues to improve systems and processes to strengthen financial awareness and improve efficiency.
  • To provide an efficient and accurate finance service to all internal and external customers in line with policies and procedures.

The Person: Empower Housing – Assistant Management Accountant  

  • Experience working within a busy finance department on all aspects of financial recording and monitoring - E
  • Knowledge and understanding of housing and service charge legislation – E
  • Knowledge and understanding of value for money – E
  • Purchase ledger and Sales ledger experience – D
  • Knowledge and understanding of the social housing sector – E
  • Good ICT skills – with good knowledge of Microsoft Office products using Excel – E
  • Previous experience of working with Xero finance software - D
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality – E
  • Good organisational skills and an ability to prioritise and manage work to deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of work – E
  • High level of attention to detail and excellent numeracy skills - E
  • Rent and Service charge experience – D
  • Knowledge of sinking fund processes - D
