Deputy Divisional Director of Operations for Cancer Services
Castlefield Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with a healthcare organisation based in the South East that requires an experienced Deputy Divisional Director of Operations for Cancer Services for a three to six month interim assignment commencing in September.
Working in partnership with operational managers across the organisation, the post holder will ensure high quality, safe and effective patient services. As part of the senior Divisional Management Team, you will promote effective governance ensuring that the highest standards of clinical care are delivered and that all clinical and non-clinical performance indicators, targets and objectives are met in line with national and local standards.
Key responsibilities will include;
- Lead on all aspects of performance management and service delivery within the Division
- Take operational decisions including budget spend for any urgent short-term operational issues
- Support the Hospital-wide operational functions providing leadership and decision making as required including escalation/liaison to external agencies where appropriate
- Ensure alignment of the Trust’s strategic direction and resulting activities of the Division
- Translate service strategy into robust management, financial and business planning activities across the Division, with the support and advice of other managers and clinicians
- Communicate clear and positive messages to staff, the Divisional Board, other parts of the Trust and key stakeholders
- Translate highly complex information into easy to disseminate communications
- In partnership with the Divisional Management Team contribute to the strategic development of the Divisional services through local innovation and service improvements
- Lead the development of an enabling culture within the Division that supports others to succeed and flourish
Key experience and skills will include;
- Masters or equivalent experience
- Operational management experience in the healthcare sector
- Evidence of recent further professional development and ongoing professional leadership development
- Analytical and problem-solving skills in dealing with complex information and data
- Ability to collaborate effectively and maintain successful partnerships
- Ability to negotiate, influence and challenge and overcome significant barriers
- Track record of achieving performance financial and service targets
- Proven experience of planning and organising at a strategic level with highly complex and conflicting priorities
- Proven track record of delivering high quality services and improving services
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of the NHS
- Able to manage services effectively (resources, people and performance)
- Able to positively influence and motivate others at a time of significant change
