The Client – Development Manager:

We are working with a well-established housing association in Staffordshire to recruit a Development Manager to manage the delivery of a multi-tenure development and regeneration programme. This client offers extremely agile and flexible working arrangements in an ambitious, creative and collaborative working environment.

The Role – Development Manager:

  • To develop and deliver the Company’s development and regeneration programme, ensuring the delivery of affordable, high quality homes
  • Provide appropriate input as required into scheme appraisals on section 106 developments which will be led by the Senior Land and Partnership Manager, using agreed parameters and making recommendations for improvements as required
  • Complete and oversee scheme appraisals on affordable and mixed tenure schemes using agreed parameters and making recommendations for improvements as required
  • To carry out pre-contract analysis of potential development projects
  • Overseeing cashflow forecasting of schemes and liaising with finance as appropriate
  • Assist the Director of Development to maximise new business opportunities through the development or acquisition of properties/land
  • Ensure robust project management of all development schemes, with regard to cost, quality and time
  • Liaise with the sales team to ensure information is provided that assists with the sales process
  • Manage the process for procuring consultants and contractors for developments schemes, working in conjunction with the Senior Land and Partnership Manager. Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures with respect to procurement of works and services with respect to works undertaken by the Development Team
  • Manage the performance of consultants and contractors in the delivery of development schemes
  • Evaluate schemes following completion and with regard to the original scheme objectives and appraisal, identifying lessons to be learned
  • Manage the aftercare and defects process, ensuring quality of service to customers and ensuring that contractors and consultants fulfil their obligations
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external compliance regulations and audit recommendations in relation to project management
  • Ensure all necessary information is collated and stored to maintain documentary information is available to satisfy internal and external audit processes and examinations as necessary
  • To keep under review technical specifications and design briefs, inputting into reviews as necessary

 

The Person – Development Manager:

  • A minimum of 3 years recent experience in an affordable housing development environment
  • Strong working knowledge and experience of affordable housing development funding and compliance requirements
  • Membership of professional body such as RICS, CIOB, RTPI or CIH
  • Experience of partnering/ working in partnership with developers, contractors and other agencies
  • Experience of land/ property appraisal and acquisition
  • Customer involvement processes and implementation
  • Experience in the procurement of developers, contractors and consultants for the delivery of affordable housing schemes
  • Management of a multi-disciplinary teams
