Castlefield Recruitment are partnering with a leading healthcare provider who are seeking an Echocardiographer, to undertake cardiology diagnostic testing within a state-of-the-art award-winning independent Hospital.

Overview
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated BSE-accredited Echocardiographer to join a dynamic Cardiology team. The role is pivotal in delivering a high-quality patient experience while maintaining exceptional standards of care. You will play a key role in ensuring that all cardiology patients requiring testing have access to a skilled Cardiac Physiologist, enhancing the diagnostic and treatment journey. With a primary focus on performing transthoracic echocardiograms in line with BSE standards, you will also contribute to a range of diagnostic services, including exercise testing, ambulatory monitoring of ECG and BP, and pacemaker testing. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional passionate about cardiology and patient care.

 

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be proficient in performing and reporting echocardiograms, including stress and 3D studies, and will use Echopac and Sentinel systems to produce detailed and accurate reports. You will provide a full exercise testing service, whether consultant or physiology-led, ensuring the highest safety standards by interpreting ECGs, monitoring blood pressure manually during testing, and being trained in ILS or BLS with AED annually. Additionally, you will instruct patients on ambulatory BP and ECG monitoring, download and interpret recordings using advanced systems such as Lifescreen and Pathfinder, and deliver comprehensive reports. Should life-threatening arrhythmias be identified, you will communicate findings directly with consultants. Maintaining consumables, completing accurate documentation, and supporting audits and research activities are integral parts of the role.

As a vital member of the team, you will ensure the efficient operation of all cardiac equipment and provide guidance and assistance to colleagues and patients. You will actively participate in audits, research, and development projects, and adhere to all relevant policies. Flexibility to assist with duties delegated by the hospital manager is essential, provided they align with your capabilities. The role requires a keen awareness of patient safety, technical excellence, and attention to detail, ensuring a seamless and professional service. Your commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to best practices will be instrumental in upholding the quality of care and innovation the organisation strives for.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Current BSE Accreditation
  • AHSC or RCCP registration
  • Cardiac physiology qualification or equivalence (eg Clinical cardiology degree, PTP HCS etc)
  • Minimum of 3 years post qualification cardiology experience
  • Ability to prepare and present on topics in cardiology/ service delivery (Rare)

 

Desirable Requirements:

  • Previous experience in using Spacelabs healthcare equipment
  • Knowledge of BSE standards and up to date policies
  • Experience of exercise testing
  • Experience in triage processes
  • SCST certificate or diploma
  • Participation in pacing services
  • Management /leadership qualification
