Head of Corporate Governance

Castlefield Recruitment are working in partnership with an NHS organisation based in the South East that requires an experienced Head of Corporate Governance for a six month temporary assignment.

The Head of Corporate Governance is the organisation’s principal advisor on all aspects of corporate governance ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, national and local policy. The post holder will oversee a team that supports Information Governance, Freedom of Information, trust policies and secretariat support to the Board and main committees.

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Ensure that the organisation’s overarching Governance Framework is up to date and used as an effective tool
  • Take the lead in continuing the development of the Board Assurance Framework and that it is updated in accordance with the agreed regular cycle for review and assurance
  • Ensure that Board meetings and sub committees, agendas, papers, minutes are prepared in consultation with the chairs and report authors and produced to a high standard and in a timely manner
  • Ensure that the organisation maintains appropriate records for Declarations of interest, Registers for Hospitality and Gifts
  • Ensure the organisation discharges its duties in line with the Freedom for Information Act, maintaining the Schedule of Publication and ensuring processes are in place to respond to enquiries made under the Act
  • Oversee the role of the Information Governance team to ensure that the organisation meets all its obligations
  • Manage the team who support the delivery of corporate and information governance

Key experience and skills to include;

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Management Qualification
  • Proven ability to understand and give advice on relevant legislation, regulations and Standing Orders
  • Experience of working at a senior level within a highly confidential Company Secretary environment or equivalent
  • Experience of managing and motivating staff to achieve maximum output
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining relationships with key people, developing alliances and partnerships
