Human Resources Manager

Castlefield Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with The Pankhurst Trust as they look to recruit an experienced Human Resources Manager on a permanent basis.

The Human Resources Manager is a key post within the organisation as they continue to evolve and grow. The post holder will contribute to the effective management and strategic development of the organisation’s key HR systems and provide HR support to the Business Manager and Senior Management Team. The post holder will be a member of the Senior Management Team and contribute to the Business Support function, including organisational performance, IT and communication systems, and health and safety.

Key responsibilities to include;

  • Undertake line management responsibilities for the Senior Business Support Officer including supervision and performance monitoring
  • Ensure the effective management of the organisation’s key HR systems including recruitment and induction, absence levels, training delivery, grievance and disciplinary processes
  • Contribute to the sustainability of existing, and development of new, services across the Business Support function
  • Produce effective HR reports for SMT and Board of Trustees
  • Maintain and amend as necessary the HR Policies and Procedures
  • Work in partnership with the Senior Management Team to create and deliver a new strategy that is appropriately supported with good project management disciplines
  • Coach the Senior Management Team as necessary, ensuring expert support is put in place that drives high standards of leadership, talent development and employee engagement
  • Drive a review of the existing staff remuneration package and make recommendations for implementation
  • Be a confident HR strategy adviser to the HR Committee, a newly formed sub-group of our Board of Trustees, engaging with Trustees on key HR issues, risks and priorities
  • Develop a learning and development agenda that aligns with our ambition to be a “learning organisation”, engaging our employees to fulfil their potential, perform better and want to stay longer

Key experience to include;

  • Relevant qualification in HR Management (Level 7) OR equivalent with proof of suitable HR related experience
  • Experience in leading a People Operation or HR function
  • Previous experience of leading operational change programmes within a HR environment
  • Previous experience of working closely with an Executive Board member, delivering clear communications on their behalf
  • Experience of effectively chairing meetings and ensuring clear and balanced presentation of information
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of current UK Employment Law
  • Track record in developing and delivering a HR strategy and of negotiating with, and advising, managers and senior staff
  • Understanding of change management processes and how to effectively implement change across an organisation with a diverse workforce
  • Confident communicator with the ability to easily build relationships, rapport and trust with all types of people at all levels of the organisation and its partners
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to develop and implement challenging plans and effectively manage change
  • Enthusiasm, self-confidence and excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment and to deal with difficult and unpredictable situations effectively
