Castlefield Recruitment are currently working in partnership with Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust on a number of exciting opportunities within their Estates & Facilities Department.

RDaSH provides a broad and diverse range of services for patients of all ages across mental health, physical health, learning disability and drug and alcohol services. They were awarded Foundation Trust status in 2007 and have an annual budget of around £170 million.

The Trust serves over 850,000 residents across Doncaster, Rotherham, and South Humber, providing mental health services and community services through a network of over 100 locations.

RDaSH employs around 3,900 people; have a staff bank of approximately 540 people and an active volunteer base of around 200 people.

Role: Mechanical Technician (Multi-Skilled)

An exciting opportunity to become part of a well-established Estates Team, who are responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive maintenance and installation service across the Trust.

The role will carry out, or oversee, the repair, maintenance or installation of all plant equipment, systems and building structure/fabric associated with all Trust properties. This will consist of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), testing, fault finding, emergency response, defect correction and minor works.

 

Duties will include:

  • Undertaking a spectrum of mechanical work, from installation to commissioning, validation, repair, and routine maintenance
  • Mechanical remit includes HVAC, refrigeration, low temperature hot water heating systems, pumps and controls, compressed air systems, medical gas systems, legionella control, fabrications and minor works
  • Executing modifications and adaptations to plant and equipment to comply with legislative changes or Estates and Facilities Alerts
  • Working autonomously, utilising the Works Management System to allocate PPM and reactive work requests
  • Demonstrate a ‘multi-skilled’ approach and a strong understanding of the relationships between various estates trades (Electrical, Mechanical, Joinery)

Person:

The successful Mechanical Technician (Multi-Skilled) should:

  • Hold relevant formal mechanical qualifications along with prior practical experience – ideally apprenticeship trained and holding an NVQ / C&G level 3
  • Demonstrate significant experience in maintenance of complex engineering plant and equipment
  • Possess a broad understanding of other trade disciplines. Training will be provided where necessary to reach required levels of multi-skilled flexibility and competence
  • Be willing to participate in the on-call rota
  • Hold a current driving license
