Castlefield Recruitment are partnering with a leading private healthcare provider who is seeking a Orthopaedics Theatre Scrub Practitioner for their sites within Central London on a permanent basis.

Location: Central London
Salary: Up to £44,000 (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, covering a flexible shift pattern, Permanent

Introduction

Are you an experienced Theatre Scrub Practitioner with Orthopaedics experience and looking for a new opportunity to work in a prestigious private clinic in the heart of Central London? We are currently seeking a dedicated and highly skilled individual to join a dynamic surgical team, offering the chance to work in a state-of-the-art operating theatre with some of the best surgeons within the UK. This is a permanent role with excellent career progression and professional development opportunities 

Duties

  • Deliver first class, patient care.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement.
  • Develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of yourself and others.
  • Promote evidence based on best practice.
  • Ensure strict adhesion to legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Respect the patient’s dignity, privacy, wishes and beliefs.

 

Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluation of peri-operative patient care. This will include:

  • Prepare patients for clinical/ operative procedures
  • Provide assistance in clinical/ operative procedures
  • Providing initial emergency care as required.
  • Working with members of the multi-disciplinary Theatre team following local protocols and standards.
  • Ensuring that the patient’s comfort, dignity and privacy are maintained at all times.
  • Assemble, check and prepare the appropriate surgical instruments and consumables for a wide range of operative procedures incorporating various types of surgery prior to use and any faults reported to the Theatre Manager immediately.
  • Coordinate the use of supplies and equipment during the operating list, ensuring the equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner. Monitor, order, receive and check stock items including consumables, equipment and drugs.
  • Promote and ensure an environment conducive to the continuing prevention and control of infection for all staff, patients and visitors.
  • Ensure any accidents or complaints are fully documented and that the appropriate manager is informed.
  • Maintain the safe custody, handling of drugs in accordance with the current policies
  • Participate in education, training and development of other staff.
  • Actively contribute to changes in practice and policies when changes have arisen which may follow an audit, complaint or newly issued guidance.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as well as NMC and/or or HPC Codes of Practice.
  • Undertaking any other duties as required by the line manager, regarding their care and treatment. 

Experience

  • Registered Nurse/ODP
  • Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in surgical practice including perioperative and orthopaedic experience
  • Evidence of clinical reasoning and sound decision-making skills across a varied patient case mix.
  • Highly organised with outstanding attention to detail and the ability to prioritise information and workload appropriately
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods of time, reacting quickly in an emergency when required
  • Effective communicator with the ability to build professional relationships.
  • Aware of developments within profession
  • Able to work as part of a team within set boundaries
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Flexible and adaptive to changing situations

Desirable

  • ENB 998 and/or mentorship course and/or D32/D33/A1
  • ILS/ALS Qualification.
