    Salix Homes is a multi-award winning not-for-profit registered provider of social housing, we own and manage around 8,000 homes across Salford, but we do much more than this – we build new homes, transform services and invest in communities and people.

    We pride ourselves in putting our customers at the heart of what we do, in 2020 we launched our ground-breaking Customer Committee designed to transform  the way we engage with our residents and give them a much stronger voice and a platform to hold us to account.

    We recently launched our customer charter ‘Our Promise to You’ which has been developed with our customers and sets out our commitment to delivering excellent services.

    During 2020/21 we collected several awards, at the Northern Housing awards we were given ‘Best Resident Involvement Initiative' for our Salix Homes Customer Committee and ‘Best Digital Transformation’, we were awarded ‘Digital Landlord of the Year’ status by the UK Housing Awards and ‘Gold’ status by Investors in People under the new more rigorous assessment criteria. During the pandemic, colleagues and tenants have given their time to support local community groups and had recognition in the Spirit of Salford Community Action Awards 2021, where one of our colleagues was awarded Volunteer of the Year in recognition of their hard work with a local community group and one of our tenants picked up the Neighbour of the Year award in recognition of all they do to support their community.

    This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic commercially focused Strategic Procurement Manager to join our award winning social housing organisation, where we truly place our customers at the heart of what we do.

    We are looking for someone to head up our procurement function and act as the strategic lead for procurement across the organisation. You will deliver dedicated commercial services to the business across all spend portfolios by effectively leading multiple teams to provide the full range of procurement activities including category planning, sourcing, contract management and supplier management.

    This is a transformational role, focused on embedding best practice and value for money throughout the business, working not only within the organisation but with our Customer Committee, Senior Management Team, Audit Committee  and Board in developing our Procurement Strategy and VFM to underpin our Corporate Plan. This is a key role within Salix and will play a major part in the delivery of our Corporate Plan and Financial Strategy.

    This role provides a 'blank-canvas' opportunity to design and build a new Procurement Function whilst maintaining hands-on procurement responsibility for spend across a broad category portfolio.

    The successful candidate will lead the adoption and embedding of new frameworks, processes, systems and ways of working across their team and drive improvements across the procurement lifecycle to ensure the business area receives an effective and efficient service and gets best value from their third party spend.
