Castlefield Recruitment are currently working in partnership with a large public sector organisation to recruit an Interim Finance Business Partner for Climate, Environment and Customer Services . This role plays a key part in providing both strategic and operational financial support across this division, Acting

As a trusted business partner, the successful candidate will lead on financial planning, budgeting, and monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with leadership across climate/environment and customer services to support budgeting and strategic planning
  • Provide financial modelling, scenario analysis, and guidance on ROI to inform decisions
  • Lead monthly and quarterly performance reviews, variances analysis, and financial forecasting
  • Develop dashboards and KPIs to track financial health and environmental metrics
  • Guide customer service teams in pricing, cost control, margin analysis, and contract negotiations
  • Support service-level agreements and contract compliance through financial data and projections
  • Incorporate climate risk, carbon, and environmental cost considerations into financial decisions and reporting
  • Evaluate funding proposals with environmental impact in mind (e.g., climate finance instruments, green investment feasibility)
  • Collaborate with non-financial stakeholders (project managers, grant teams, service ops) to make finances understandable and actionable
  • Support cross-functional projects, including environmental initiatives and customer-related transformations
  • Improve financial systems, processes, and tools (e.g., budget tracking, dashboards)
  • Ensure compliance with donor contracts, environmental grants, and financial regulations

Person attributes

  • Strong financial modelling, forecasting, and performance analysis
  • Able to translate financial data into clear insights for non-financial audiences
  • Understands profit, cost drivers, contracting and sustainability financial impacts
  • Builds trust with diverse teams and influences decision-makers
  • Adept with ERP systems, dashboards, and financial reporting tools
