Our client is seeking a GHPC Pharmacy Technician with at least 1 year’s experience post registration, to support the small team with the clinical pharmacy service based in the dispensary. Working closely with the other Technician, Pharmacist and Superintendent Pharmacist you will be responsible for a safe and efficient patient focused service and deliver a robust and efficient pharmacy service to include dispensing services, procurement for the pharmacy, and the supply of medicines to clinical areas and medicines management as necessary.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Dispensary: Support safe and efficient pharmacy services, including dispensing prescriptions, stock control, and supply of medicines to clinical areas.
  • Team Support & Supervision: Work closely with the team to manage workflow, quality assurance, and implement service improvements.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with internal (e.g., clinical staff, finance) and external stakeholders (e.g., suppliers) to ensure timely and cost-effective medication supply.
  • Stock & Controlled Drugs Management: Oversee stock rotation, expiry checks, controlled drugs handling, and resolve stock discrepancies.
  • Patient Interaction: Dispense and support patients on medication use, ensuring safe and effective treatment.
  • Medicines Management & Auditing: Assist with medicines optimisation, risk assessments, data reporting, and conducting audits under supervision.
  • Procurement & Inventory: Order and receive medicines and ancillary items, maintain delivery records, and ensure correct storage and disposal of medicines.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Documentation: Maintain SOPs, ensure adherence to policies, and uphold GPhC registration and CPD requirements.
  • Additional Duties: Participate in service rosters, manage complaints with support, attend training sessions, and contribute to pharmacy stocktakes.

 

Role Requirements:

 

  • Must be GPHC registered as Pharmacy Technician
  • 1 year’s experience post registration
  • BTEC or NVQ level 3 in pharmaceutical services or equivalent
  • Experience in working in a dispensary including procurement and dispensing
  • Excellent communication with professional manner and customer service skills

 

Desirable Requirements:

 

  • Accredited Checking Technician
  • Medicines Optimisation Qualification
  • Experience in dealing with high end patient/clients
