The Challenge

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust had an urgent and critical requirement for a high-volume recruitment campaign to assist with the staffing demands for the Greater Manchester Covid-19vaccination programme. They would require assistance across Administration, Project Management, staff in the vaccination pods as well as HR support, both on site at the Etihad Campus Mass Vaccination Centre and at Tameside and Glossop headquarters.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the nature of the project would be fluid and ever changing. As a result, the recruitment partner needed to deal with the above requirements with a particular focus on speed of delivery, flexibility, and compliance.

The Solution

Following a meeting with the senior team responsible for delivering the programme, Castlefield were engaged on an exclusive basis to deliver the campaign. Castlefield immediately implemented a Covid-19 Project Team which was overseen by a Director. This included an out of hours service which gave the vaccination centre and candidates access to a team of Consultants, Candidates Researchers alongside a Marketing, Finance and Compliance Team dedicated to the project.

Castlefield used a number of candidate attraction methods including advertising, jobs boards and social media marketing campaigns throughout the campaign. Perhaps their most successful method however, was their extensive network and utilisation of referral schemes which consequently led to a close knit team within the vaccination centre, creating a great working culture and atmosphere for all members of staff. This is one of the reasons the vaccination centre has continually scored highly within all its customer satisfaction reviews.

Castlefield maintained vital communication with both the Customer and Candidates throughout the project, utilizing video and regular onsite meetings, Q+As sessions onsite at the Etihad, candidate WhatApp groups, and weekly messages/updates from the Compliance and Finance teams.

The Result

Castlefield successfully delivered the project within the agreed timescales resolving any queries or questions efficiently and effectively. Over 100 staff have been recruited for the campaign and in particular note is the retention rate which is 97%.

We have now transferred a large number of staff onto NHS payroll allowing us to keep them in the system for both the Mass Vaccination Centre and future positions in Greater Manchester.
