About the Role

Castlefield is seeking an experienced and strategic Deputy Chief Operating Officer to provide senior operational leadership across urgent care, crisis services and wider corporate operations within a complex healthcare organisation.

Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer and other senior leaders, you will play a pivotal role in driving service improvement, operational performance and the delivery of safe, high-quality and efficient patient care.

‍

You will lead strategic initiatives across urgent care and crisis services, focusing on patient flow, discharge pathways, service development and partnership working. The role will also involve supporting the implementation of new services and initiatives, including mental health crisis pathways and improvements to emergency care.

‍

As a senior leader, you will deputise for the Chief Operating Officer when required, representing the organisation at senior-level meetings and working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to achieve strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

‍

• Provide senior operational leadership across urgent care, crisis services and wider corporate operations
• Drive improvements in patient flow, discharge processes and integrated care pathways
• Develop effective partnerships with healthcare providers, local authorities, commissioners and other key stakeholders
• Monitor operational performance, using data and business intelligence to identify challenges and drive improvements
• Oversee financial performance, including budget management, financial sustainability and efficiency planning
• Ensure effective clinical governance, risk management, safeguarding and regulatory compliance
• Promote continuous quality improvement, learning from incidents, complaints and patient feedback
• Lead workforce planning, staff engagement and organisational development
• Deputise for the Chief Operating Officer, representing the organisation at strategic meetings and partnership forums

About You

‍

The successful candidate will be an accomplished senior operational leader with a proven track record of managing complex services and delivering improvements within a healthcare environment.

‍

You will bring:

• Significant experience in senior operational leadership, within the NHS
• A strong track record of delivering service improvements, managing performance and leading organisational change
• Experience of business planning, workforce redesign and financial management
• A sound understanding of clinical governance, risk management and quality assurance
• Experience of working in partnership with other organisations and senior stakeholders to deliver integrated services
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication, influencing and leadership skills
• A compassionate, inclusive and collaborative leadership style
• The resilience to manage competing priorities in a demanding senior leadership role
