Castlefield Recruitment are looking for an experienced Lease / Technical Accountant to join a finance team within the housing sector. The role will have a particular focus on lease accounting, financial reporting and providing technical accounting support across the organisation.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of lease accounting and financial reporting requirements, ideally with experience gained in practice, property, housing or another similar organisation. The housing association is based in London, and the successful candidate will operate on a hybrid working basis.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Managing the accounting and reporting for the organisation’s lease portfolio, including right-of-use assets and lease liabilities
• Applying the relevant lease accounting requirements and ensuring leases are correctly recognised and accounted for
• Calculating and accounting for depreciation and interest charges associated with leases
• Supporting the preparation of financial statements and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and reporting requirements
• Providing technical accounting advice and guidance to colleagues on lease-related matters
• Reviewing new and existing contracts to identify lease arrangements and assess their accounting treatment
• Supporting year-end processes, audit queries and technical accounting disclosures
• Contributing to wider financial reporting and technical accounting projects as required
