Castlefield Recruitment are currently working with a Manchester based Public Sector organisation to recruit a Payroll Manager on an initial 12 month fixed term basis. The role offers hybrid working and a salary of up to £55,000.
The role will be to support the Payroll and Pensions function as they work through a system implementation project to move to a new HR & Payroll system.
Duties
- Lead the implementation of a new payroll system, managing plans, milestones, risks, testing and go-live activities
- Act as the payroll subject matter expert, ensuring system configuration reflects UK payroll legislation, policies and business requirements
- Manage payroll data migration, cleansing, validation and reconciliation, ensuring data is accurate and complete
- Coordinate UAT, parallel payroll testing and end-to-end testing, identifying and resolving issues before go-live
- Reconcile payroll outputs including PAYE, NIC, pensions, statutory payments and deductions, investigating any variances
- Work closely with Payroll, HR, IT and external implementation partners to ensure a smooth transition to the new system
- Develop process maps, procedures, controls, user guides and training materials to support implementation and knowledge transfer
- Ensure implementation complies with relevant HMRC, pension, GDPR, governance and internal control requirements
- Support cutover, go-live and post-implementation activities, embedding the new processes into BAU
- Identify opportunities to standardise, automate and improve payroll processes, reducing manual workarounds and reliance on legacy systems
