Castlefield is pleased to be exclusively supporting an NHS organsiation with the recruitment of an in Interim Operations Manager to support the delivery of safe, efficient, and high‑performing elective services with a strong focus on RTT improvement and operational flow. This role is ideal for an experienced operational leader ready to take ownership of complex pathways and drive measurable performance outcomes.
The Role
You will lead operational delivery across surgical specialties, ensuring day‑to‑day service stability, effective demand and capacity management, and strong RTT performance. Working closely with clinical and managerial colleagues, you will coordinate elective recovery actions, support theatre productivity, and provide clear, data‑driven performance oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operational performance across surgical services, ensuring safe, timely, and efficient patient care
- Oversee RTT delivery, including pathway management, validation processes, and proactive escalation of risks
- Support elective recovery plans, theatre utilisation, and outpatient productivity initiatives
- Produce accurate performance reports, trajectories, and assurance for divisional leadership
- Contribute to divisional business planning, budget management, and workforce coordination
- Build effective relationships with clinical directors, matrons, service managers, and system partners
- Promote continuous improvement, digital optimisation, and evidence‑based decision‑making
About You
- Strong operational management experience within acute or surgical services
- Solid understanding of RTT rules, elective pathways, and performance levers
- Skilled in coordinating complex services with competing priorities
- Confident communicator able to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
