Job description:
Castlefield Recruitment is currently supporting a Local Authority in the North West with the appointment of an Interim Category Manager for an initial 6 month assignment.
The primary focus of this role is to work across multiple procurement categories, identifying opportunities to deliver substantial cost savings and improved commercial outcomes.
This is a broad, savings-focused role rather than a category-specific position. The successful candidate will need to quickly assess existing expenditure, identify inefficiencies and deliver measurable financial savings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review procurement spend across multiple categories to identify opportunities for significant cost savings.
- Analyse existing contracts, supplier arrangements and procurement activity to identify commercial efficiencies.
- Develop and implement savings initiatives that deliver measurable financial benefits.
- Challenge existing procurement arrangements and identify alternative approaches to improve value for money.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to identify, prioritise and deliver savings opportunities.
- Ensure procurement activity complies with the Procurement Act 2023 and relevant public sector regulations.
Essential Requirements:
- Strong procurement experience within Local Government.
- Proven track record of identifying and delivering substantial, quantifiable procurement savings.
- Broad category management experience across multiple areas of spend.
- Strong commercial analysis, negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Working knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023.
- Ability to work independently, identify opportunities quickly and deliver results within a short timeframe.
