Castlefield Recruitment are proud to be supporting an NHS Trust in the South West of England to recruit a Waste Manager on a permanent basis.
Responsibilities;
· To manage waste collection and disposal contracts including clinical, commercial/office and hazardous wastes of the Trust and partners.
· Review the entire waste disposal requirements and tender new contracts throughout the Trust and partners
· To audit all waste activities, at each site, down to ward/department level throughout the Trust and produce reports recommending actions for improvement and carry out second party audits of our waste disposal contractors
· To investigate and promote opportunities to reduce overall cost and environmental impact of our waste activities, including better segregation, use of alternative and new technologies for waste disposal, compliant with current legislation.
Personal Specification
· Degree level qualification in a Waste or Environmental Management related subject
· Significant experience of waste management in a large organisation
· Experience of site-wide, multi-department, waste auditing, including policy compliance andcompositional analysis
· Knowledge of NHS waste guidance (HTM 07-01), UK waste legislation (both hazardous and non-hazardous) and NHS policies and procedures (i.e. Infection Prevention & Control and Health & Safety)
