Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the performance of a financial team within the Management Accounts Department
- Act as a key link between the Business Accountant for the Division, the Management Accounts team, and operational teams
- Provide high-quality financial information, guidance, support, and advice to Group Chairs (Clinicians), Managing Directors, Trust managers, and clinicians to support effective planning, monitoring, and control of services within available resources
- Ensure that managers and clinicians fully understand the financial implications of their decisions
- Produce detailed financial information and analysis to support service developments, service redesigns, and business cases
- Lead efficiency reviews and support the identification, development, and monitoring of Cost Improvement Programme (CIP) schemes for current and future years
- Develop and maintain robust forecasting and financial planning processes
- Contribute to the Trust’s five-year financial plan and support the delivery of the Cost Improvement Programme, ensuring resources are aligned to meet agreed targets
- Ensure effective budget setting, annual planning, monthly financial monitoring, and group-level reporting in line with required standards and timetables
- Prepare and provide accurate information for Monitor and other statutory returns
- Lead all aspects of Management Accounting for the Group(s), including direct line management, development, and performance management of staff
- Ensure the integrity of financial processes and controls and contribute to the production of corporate financial returns
Candidate Profile:
- The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant experience working in a local authority finance team.
