Castlefield Recruitment is currently supporting an education sector organisation in the appointment of a Finance Manager on a six-month fixed-term contract. The role is based in Greater Manchester, with an expectation of on-site attendance up to five days per week where required. The position offers a salary of £55,000 per annum, and the successful candidate must be available to start immediately.
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality strategic and operational financial advice to Business Managers, budget holders and Senior Leadership Teams
- Support the Regional Finance Director in the development, implementation and monitoring of annual budgets, three-year financial plans, forecasts and business plans to ensure long-term financial sustainability
- Lead on the production of timely and accurate management accounts, month-end close processes and financial reporting, ensuring systems reflect the latest financial position
- Ensure robust financial governance by maintaining and enforcing financial procedures, standing orders and internal controls, in line with Trust policies, ESFA requirements and public procurement regulation
- Monitor and control income, expenditure and cash flow, ensuring effective budget management, accurate forecasting and strong cash management arrangements across the orgsanisation
- Prepare statutory returns, audit files and reconciliations, and act as the key liaison with internal and external auditors to meet governance and statutory deadlines
- Ensure compliance with VAT, pensions (TPS and LGPS), payroll regulations and relevant accounting standards in monthly and annual accounts
- Oversee payroll operations, pension administration and associated audits, ensuring an efficient, accurate and compliant service
- Line manage and performance-manage administration staff, working collaboratively with Facilities, IT and HR colleagues, and handling sensitive matters with discretion and confidentiality
Person skills:
- Great communication skills with the ability to liaise with senior managers and stakeholders across the business
- Excellent at reporting and can relay financial information back to non-finance staff
- Can hit the ground running with financial systems
