Castlefield Recruitment are currently working with a public sector organisation in the South-East to recruit for an Interim Category Manager.
Daily rate: c.£300- £325 via Umbrella
Duration: 3-6 Months initially
Location: West/Sussex (Hybrid working, ideally 3 days a week on site)
Role Summary:
- Provide effective line management and leadership to two Operational Buyers, supporting their professional development and ensuring high performance within the procurement team.
- Lead and deliver end-to-end procurement projects ensuring compliance with relevant procurement regulations
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop sourcing strategies, deliver value for money, and achieve best outcomes for the organisation.
- Manage the delivery of contracts, call-off agreements from frameworks, and mini-competitions, ensuring timely execution and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Contribute to the development of category strategies, identifying opportunities for cost savings, innovation, and supplier relationship management
Key skills required:
- Proven category management experience
- Strong knowledge of public sector procurement processes and practices
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of two Operational Buyers
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
