Job Specification
- Provide strategic financial leadership to support delivery of the Trust’s clinical, operational and corporate objectives, deputising for the Director of Finance as required
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting, ensuring robust financial control and compliance with NHS financial governance and statutory requirement
- Oversee development and delivery of long-term financial strategies, including cost improvement programmes, productivity, and value for money initiatives
- Act as a key advisor to the Board, Executive Team and senior leaders on financial performance, risks, opportunities and investment decisions
- Ensure effective capital planning, business case development, and appraisal in line with NHS and HM Treasury guidance
- Lead, develop and motivate high-performing finance teams, fostering a culture of professionalism, continuous improvement and collaboration
- Build strong relationships with system partners (ICB, regulators and other providers) to support system-wide financial sustainability and transformation
Person Specification
- Fully qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent) with significant senior-level financial management experience within the NHS
- Proven ability to provide strategic financial leadership, including complex financial planning, performance management and delivery of financial improvement programmes
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience of developing teams and influencing senior stakeholders, including Boards and system partners
- Excellent analytical, communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear advice for non-financial audiences
