Job Summary
Castlefield are seeking an interim Head of Financial Accounts to join a public sector organisation on an initial 3 month contract. The organisation work 100%remotely however you will need to be based in the UK to complete the contract due to internal systems. The position will suit a senior candidate who can work independently supporting key financial decision making across the organisation
Responsibilities
- Leading the preparation and submission of the organisation’s Annual Report and Accounts, including working with auditors
- Manage and report on different funding streams, helping the organisation meet public finance rules and strengthen long‑term financial planning
- Maintain and improve financial processes, systems and policies to ensure compliance with standards, audits and public finance rules.
- Oversee core accounting functions such as statutory reporting, treasury activity, income forecasting and balance sheet management.
- Lead and develop a high‑performing finance team, setting clear goals, supporting learning, and ensuring delivery against agreed plans.
Person:
- Qualified Accountant
- Had extensive experience preparing statutory reports previously
- Strong leadership skills having managed teams previously
