Job Overview
Castlefield is pleased to be supporting a leading Medico-Legal specialist with the appointment of several key Expert Witnesses for areas of the established business portfolio.

You will provide authoritative, impartial opinion on causation, prognosis, standards of care, and the long‑term impacts on injury, as well as considered, detailed quantum reports where appropriate.

Specialist areas:

- Catastrophic Brain Injury

- Spinal Cord Injury

- Paediatrics

- Visual Impairment

- Amputee

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, including review of medical records, imaging, timelines, and clinical decision‑making
• Prepare compliant expert witness reports addressing causation, mechanism of injury, severity, prognosis, functional impact, and care needs
• Provide expert opinion on non‑accidental injury (NAI), accidental trauma, developmental regression, and safeguarding concerns
• Ensure Court ready documentation and on rare occasions, deliver clear, balanced oral evidence in joint expert meetings, and Court appearances
• Liaise with instructing Solicitors, Barristers, and multidisciplinary professionals to support timely case progression
• Uphold high standards of clinical governance, safeguarding, and professional ethics

Essential Criteria

• Registered Nurse (NMC), or Occupational Therapist, with substantial experience in the relevant field
• Strong analytical and report‑writing skills with the ability to interpret complex clinical information and imaging summaries
• Ability to provide impartial, defensible opinion underpinned by evidence‑based practice
• Excellent communication skills and confidence presenting expert evidence

Desirable Experience:

• Previous medico‑legal or expert witness experience (training available)
• Long‑term clinical follow‑up
• Rehabilitation and complex care planning
• Familiarity with joint expert meetings
