Role:
As a Category Specialist – Corporate Services, you will lead and manage procurement related projects and programmes to deliver the required business outcomes within WCC. This role will support contracts in both our Communities and Resources directorates, which include a wide range of service areas such as ICT, HR, Finance, Property Services, Transport, County Highways, Fire and Rescue and Waste Management.
Duties will include;
- Leading the process for procuring contracts for a variety of categories
- Offering a proactive and comprehensive service on all aspects of procurement to all levels of personnel
- Managing relationships between our client and their diverse range of suppliers
- Developing, delivering, managing and maintaining innovative and effective commercial solutions
- Updating guidance and procurement templates to account for the new Provider Selection Regime and upcoming Procurement Act
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the procurement policies and strategies
- Delivering robust contracts and great value for money
- Investigating sources of supply, preparing and issuing tender documentation and conducting formal tender exercises as required
- Monitoring supplier/contract performance and supporting the management of the Council’s strategic supplier relationships
- Actively promoting and communicating sound commercial principles and practice
Person:
The successful Category Specialist – Corporate Services;
- Procurement experience in leading and managing procurement related projects
- Experienced in undertaking all aspects of the Procurement cycle and able to demonstrate the value added by effective procurement
- Strong stakeholder management experience
- Working knowledge of Public Sector procurement regulations/processes
- Experience managing complex categories of spend
