Cancer Recovery Lead | NHS | South East | 9m Fixed Term Contract
Castlefield are pleased to be supporting a busy NHS Trust with the sourcing of dynamic and experienced leader to drive cancer recovery across the organisation, ensuring timely access to diagnostics, treatment, and follow‑up care. The role required strong operational oversight, collaborative working, and a commitment to improving outcomes for people affected by cancer.
Key Duties:
- Led the implementation of cancer recovery plans, ensuring performance trajectories are achieved and sustained
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to improve pathway flow, reduce delays, and strengthen patient experience
- Oversee monitoring, validation, and reporting of cancer waiting times, providing assurance to senior leaders and regulators
- Drive service improvement initiatives that enhanced diagnostic capacity, treatment access, and follow‑up processes
- Work with ICS partners, acute providers, and clinical leads to align recovery actions and resolve operational barriers
- Provide expert guidance to Executives, using data and evidence to inform planning and decision‑making
Experience:
- Proven experience in the NHS within Cancer services is essential
- Track record of performance in improvement
- Ability to liaise and engage with senior stakeholders and Executives
- Provide robust plans, milestones and assurance throughout
- Understand the importance of cost control within the recovery programme
